In a different type of comeback, 10cm releases a new single that everyone thought would be a beautiful Spring love song. What they got was a beautiful anti-Spring love song, ‘봄이 좋냐?? (What The Spring??)’, that carried a message to all those lovers who have a seasonal fling.
10cm is an indie band with Magic Strawberry Sound and consists of vocalist Kwon Jung Yeol and guitarist Yoon Cheol Jong. The two formed in 2009 and debuted in 2010 with ‘10 cm The First EP’ and though they haven’t won any music show awards yet, the two have won a couple end-of-the-year show awards for their performances.
10cm is a joke reference to the height difference to the two men. Keeping with their fun personalities, when they announced they would be coming back with a new single, even their CEO thought it was going to be a romantic song. According to Jung Yeol, they wanted to create a song for all the single people to enjoy this Spring among all the lovely ones that were bound to be released.
Referring to the Little Prince, the music video goes back and forth from a cartoon version of Jung Yeol and a human version of the 10cm as they perform the song. The song is as wonderful as you would expect from the indie duo with beautiful guitar playing and amazing vocals. The song definitely is still very Spring-like in feeling even as you watch the little character be sad for being alone.
10cm recently worked with SNSD’s YoonA for SM Entertainment’s digital music channel, STATION. ‘덕수궁 돌담길의 봄 (Deoksugung Stonewall Walkway)’ was a Spring love song as it referenced a couple enjoying their time together.
